BABAA
The Build America Buy America Act (BABAA) is a federal requirement for acquiring federal financial assistance in certain industries. In our industry BABAA compliance is required for BEAD, the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment Program. This program aims to bring high-speed internet access to all 50 states and multiple territories, with funding exceeding $40 billion.
BABAA has two general rules, that the product is manufactured in the United States and that 55% of the materials inside the product are sourced from the United States. Depending on the type of product being manufactured, there may be exceptions to the rules.
In order to receive funding from the BEAD Program, only BABAA compliant products can be used. This is why certifying your BABAA compliance is essential.
